Annual Events

MAY

Brookfield Show 2012

Held over 3 days from the 18th to the 29th May there is a funfair, rodeo, arts and crafts competitions, show jumping, dressage, poultry, stud cattle - every type of class you would expect at an agricultural show -and only a 20 minute drive from Brisbane

The crafts were of an incredibly high standard with quilting being one of the biggest classes. I think even Kirsty Allsop might think twice about entering!

There are plenty of different food stalls to tempt you and a bar. We sat under cover near the bar to escape the sun and there was a small grandstand for further shade, both had a clear view of the events. Terracing on the slope facing the arena provided more seating but this was in the sun, so a hat and sunscreen are essential.

There are many classes to enter; some serious, some for fun, I particularly liked the penguins made from vegetables!

We were parked on a fairly steep hill and the track to the show was rough and uneven so it wasn't suitable for disabled people. You can drop people in wheelchairs at the main gate but the main part of site itself is on a slope and it would be very difficult to push an adult around this venue. Obviously it is flat near the arena but the art and craft, horticulture and cookery shows are on the side of the hill as you can see from the photo taken inside the horticultural tent.
